Official Response 5

The peer reveiws so far have been very positive, maybe too positive. I learned that I need to spend more time and get things exactly where I want them. This has been a great learning experience for all of us except maybe Jinan who seems to be right on target with her site creation, she is my role model! It is interesting to see how different everyone's ideas are.

I have also learned that people like columns and they are use to seeing links in a certain way and place. I will keep this in mind for the next project. I hope time is on my side from now on. Creating a web page takes more time executing than it does planning. I guess when I learn the technology, I will be able to spend more time planning.

Everyone has done well!!

Beware!!!
Resistance is futile!!
Looks like I am part of the Borg!
This may gross you out! I know it does me. For those of you in my group. Here is my broken wrist. I shattered all the bones in my wrist so the doc put in this external extruder. It has pins holding all the pieces together. Looks really cool in the x-rays. 6-8 weeks is my sentence, I have PT constantly, flexing, rubbing, trying to make a fist. Doc says if I do not make a fist with in 2 weeks, I never will, so closing my hand is my top priority. Best thing is NO DISHES for 8 weeks, booyah!!
See ya soon

Official Response 4

The target audience for my site is first of all my classmates, Ms Hendriksen and then maybe future prospective employers. I will someday place my resume on this site and perhaps use it to find a better job. I wanted my class mates to know who I am and see what is important to me, that is why I included my children in my proflie, they are my life right now. Keeping my audience in mind I wanted to keep it simple and direct. I am conservative and would be looking for a future conservative government job. I tried to use colors that would not offend even the most uptight boss. LOL.
I am really much more fun than this site shows. I am not boring in the least.
Changes could be made to impress future viewers. Maybe more pizazz, more content. I am limited by my designing skills or lack there of.

Personal Note from Turkey Run State Park

My sweetie and I went to Turkey Run State Park for a Geology field trip. This is one of the best places in Indiana to observe 300,000,000 year old rock formations. If you are in need of a great hike, please bring your best shoes and plenty of water and try trail 3. You will not be disappointed. The mist in this picture is not a photo glitch, the atmosphere in this canyon is so moist, a mist hangs in the air. It is amazing!!

Official Response 3 - Project Assessment

Project Assessment So Far!
Content:
I have a few items of content. They seem to be working well. I need more. I have not found my personality yet, so I will work on that aspect. I have the categories required listed, but some are still in progress. Pretty sure I am free of grammitical errors and typos.
Visual Appeal:
What can I say, it is pretty boring. I want to keep the white space and the colors. I want to keep it pretty conservative. I need better structure and layout. I will continue to explore exactly what I want. I hope the pictures keep your attention and urge you to look for more.
Organization:
Everything seems to be organized. I think I will add columns and have all the links on each page. Things are pretty simple right now, so it is easy to find your way.
Creativity: This page is not very innovative, but it is original. Creavitivty is where I will have problems.
Style: Again, I want my site to be conservative, but not boring. I am still in the "develop a personality" stage of development.

I am sure the site will get better. I am looking at other people's sites in our groups, and I plan on going out into the web and find more examples. I like Sharon's pages in the "Creating a Web Presence" handout. I am hoping to have a simple yet elegant presentation choked full of interesting content.
More to come...

Finally Up

Steel is a funny creature. It has taken me all weekend to get my account up and running. I finally have the beginnings of a web page online and hopefully functioning the way it is supposed to. I still need to work on content. Most may say it is a bit boring, but at least you can read it. Not sure what is next for Jackie's Web Page. I am sure I will think of something. Until we meet again this is Jackie T. signing off!!! :)

Official Response 2

I finally created a steel account, but they are not letting me see it yet. I am hoping I can link to it tomorrow and publish what I have so far. I am glad we are not being graded on technical skills.
I have created a site map and have an idea of what I want to site to look like. The text I helpful in guiding me in the direction of what others will need to see when they open the page. I am trying to keep it simple and clear. I am having trouble with Front Page. The links to other pages are giving me a headache, but I think I will try again tomorrow.

Desk Sharing

I mentioned woodworking in my profile, so I thought I would show off one of our projects. Since I take mostly on-line classes I needed a private space to study. Nelson, my significant other, designed this desk to fit between our closets in our bedroom. It is like I have my own cubical at home. JOY! LOL.

Nelson is the cut out man, I do the finishing and we both participate in design. Our speciality is creating wood furniture without any fasteners. So far we have created a coffee table, wineracks, shelving units and night stands with out any type of glue or fasteners..i.e. screws, nails, pegs..etc. It is fun and keeps us off the street.

First Official Entry

Official Entry:
Reflect upon my skills and experience in blogs.
To tell you the truth, I have never really looked at blogs. I have only heard of them. I do not have any experience in creating web sights, or entering information out into the web, other the email and instant messaging. I am at this time at a total loss as to what I want to portray. I have no thoughts of image for focus.
The greatest challenge so far has been getting started. Everytime I think about starting, something else in my life becomes mysteriously more important. I guess I am afraid of failing.
Content however should not be a problem. Anyone who knows me will tellyou I am full of it, content, I mean..LOL
I am hoping this will be fun and exciting and give me yet another outlet for expression.
Thanks for listening
